Team Colibri have announced the release of the MK1-Evo electric touring car, the 2025 version of their MK1. A lot of design efforts have been put into this evolution, to make it even faster. Main goal was to keep the MK1 natural balanced driving style and perfect steering feeling. This evolution is all about pure cornering speed, and will allow the car to reach the last tenths.
Shocks:
First obvious new element on the car is the low-profile shocks. Now the car uses Xray XLP shocks. Rear shock-tower have been updated to fit the new shock geometry. Front shocks will be fitted on classical carbon tower or separated Alloy-printed supports. These two configurations give two different front bulkheads stiffnesses, to better suit tracks conditions. MK1-Evo shocks have been placed 3mm closer to the chassis center. It will reduce the car polar moment at both ends, allowing more natural car’s rotation on tight corners.
Suspension parts:
Hubs: Mk1-Evo has new front and rear hubs. The new hubs are stiffer and more reliable on hard crashes. As for the MK1, they will be available with two different materials: graphite 3D printed version or high-grade Alloy machined version.
Lower wishbones: the MK1-Evo has a completely new Alloy-printed lower-wishbone design. They are now 20% lighter than the initial version and even stiffer. Each wishbone weight only 5 grammes.
Lower wishbone support: the MK1-Evo has kept its suspended lower wishbone’s support. This unique design eliminates unwanted interaction on chassis flex and increase geometry constancy. The new design is 10% lighter and 10 times stronger than the initial version. 2 versions will be available, to cover wider range of roll center adjustment.
Steering arms:
An underrated element on race car performance is Ackermann compensation. For the MK1-Evo, Ackermann compensation geometry has been changed on the [0; 10°] range. This update will allow the car to keep more cornering speed on high-speed corners, as it reduces tires scrub on this range. Maybe the most effective evolution of the car.
